Description: It's incredible what your mind's eye can see. |

DreamerOfNight ::: Favorites I wish I could experience something like that, but I've tried to meditate so many times in my life and it just doesn't work for me. I'm happy for you for having been able to experience that though and I hope you can experience something similar in the future! 07-05-31 22:01:45 __________________________________________________
Peter7777t ::: Favorites That's pretty much all I know on the subject. One other thing though is that reverberating circuits are commonly thought of as being the basis for short term memory. We hear something and remember it because the circuit continues to function for a period of time after the auditory stimulus has stopped. 07-05-31 21:23:48 __________________________________________________
simonodell ::: Favorites I had a very similar experience some years back... I had read a Zen koan, and I dont recall which one it was, but the notes said something about "one spark, and the holy candle is lit"... anyway I was meditating and in my mind a perfectly formed flame like a candle flame, or a lighter flame. There was no candle present to call this flame into question. It existed in and of itself and was the result of my minds action upon the zen koan. Its a spooky thing indeed. 07-05-31 20:12:45 __________________________________________________
simonodell ::: Favorites Last time I stared into a flame, there was a huge gas explosion here in the uk. The authorities were completely baffled as to the cause. Be careful. 07-05-31 20:08:33 __________________________________________________
torpedofish ::: Favorites Yeah, can you make a video about this? 07-05-31 13:16:49 __________________________________________________
thedarkener ::: Favorites Aww... =( Well I suspected that, although the flame wasn't a 'negative' at all until I had my eyes open and was looking at other things. When my eyes were closed, it was the same color as the actual flame. I did it again after this vid, and when I closed my eyes, it turned into a red dot. Very prominent red dot. 07-05-31 12:38:05 __________________________________________________
thedarkener ::: Favorites Ok, you've got my attention. This is interesting...do you know enough about this to make a video? I'd really like to hear more. 07-05-31 12:28:41 __________________________________________________
Peter7777t ::: Favorites Another possible explanation is something called a "reverberating circuit". When a stimulus is particularly strong or long lasting it sets up a neural circuit in the brain (known as a reverberating circuit) that operates independently of the original stimulus for a period of time. As current flows through the circuit we perceive the effect of the original stimulus long after that stimulus has ceased to exist. 07-05-31 11:21:12 __________________________________________________
voideyez ::: Favorites No matter the science, anything you touch, see and smell or sense.. is all part of your own individual reality, to interpret in anyway you want. The third eye, light, optical illusion. Same thing dudes. 07-05-31 11:15:35 __________________________________________________
torpedofish ::: Favorites Not that I want to detract from your experience, but the experience you describe is an optical illusion. You stared at the flame for a few minutes. After about 30 seconds, the image "burned" into the retina. The same thing happens when you enter a dark room from intense sunlight. Also, if you stare at a black and white image, then look to a white or black surface, you will see a negative of whatever pattern you've been staring at. 07-05-31 10:11:15 __________________________________________________ |
